Who is SO?
By the time, Banking has become more and more critical and complicated. Banking has new challenges such as Banking 24X7, New schemes, Money Investment, Technocrat its network. To face those challenges professionally, the Banking sector needs specialist officer SO. A Specialist officer uses its skills to solve those complicated matters. A Technical SO deals technical issues. Marketing and Inverter SO deal with investment and other money-related issues.
IBPS SO Eligibility
If you want to be an SO then, you must be,
- A citizen of India
- Age limit: 20 to 30
- Most important need either a professional or technical degree such as CA, B.Tech, BE, LLB, MBA etc.

If someone applied for Rajsabha Adhikari Scale-1 officer then, there was no need to study maths, but he had to prepare “Reasoning, English Language and General Awareness with Special Reference to Banking Industry”
If someone applied for Agriculture Field Officer, Marketing Officer (Scale I), HR/Personnel Officer, IT Officer Scale I then, he had to prepare “Reasoning, English Language and Quantitative Aptitude“. Details are given below in the index.
After conducting the Prelims exam, IBPS maintain its level and design separate mains exam. For the Post of Law Officer, IT Officer, Agriculture Field Officer, HR/Personnel Officer, and Marketing Officer.

Let’s know the selection procedure
The selection process of IBPS SO consists of 3 phases (preliminary, mains and interview). The candidates must qualify each of them to go on to the next phase. The important steps of the IBPS SO Recruitment Procedure are as follows:
Online Preliminary Examination:- A sufficient number of candidates in each category are shortlisted by IBPS depending upon the requirements for Online Main Examination.
Online Mains Examination: Candidates need to qualify for the Professional Knowledge Test in the main exam to be eligible for an interview.
Interview: The Participating Organizations will hold an Interview which will also be coordinated by the Nodal Bank in each State/ UT with the help of IBPS
Final Result: The Final result is declared based on a candidate’s overall performance in IBPS SO Mains and Interview Rounds.
Provisional Allotment: IBPS releases the provisional allotment of the eligible candidate on the official website. The IBPS allots Banks to the candidates based on the preferences they have made at the time of the online registration.
IBPS plays a role in the selection process until the provisional selection of different banks. Further, the responsibility to inform the qualified candidates about their joining dates and procedures lies with the respective banks.
IBPS SO Salary
The revised basic pay of SO thus becomes – Here ₹ 21990 is the revised basic pay of Bank SO as applicable on 1st January 2016. Thus the new entrant in a Bank as SO is liable to get ₹ 21,990 as basic pay and salary in hand ₹19590.
